The Basic Law is passed as a provisional constitution in Bonn, marking the birth of the Federal Republic of Germany. The new constitution, in many ways, mirrors that of the Weimar Republic. It, however, incorporates new articles in order to safeguard the FDR against the flaws of the Weimar Constitution. The ideology of the West is now entrenched in a political entity, furthering the intensity of the Cold War.
